Bean Balls
A beanball is when the pitcher throws the ball at the batter in order to hit him. A beanball is meant to be on purpose and not when the pitcher hits a batter on accident. Larussa is one manager that will actually call one as a play. Usually it is used for retaliation against the other team. The beanball can be brought up if the opposing pitcher throws a little to close to the batter. In that case when the Cardinals would be out on the field Larussa will call a beanball then. The main purpose is to send a message back to the other team saying they aren't scared of them and they won't be intimidated.
